Question 1

Can I use a teleprompter for stand-up comedy?

Accepted Answer

You can, and Performance Mode is built as exactly that — but smarter. It is a full-screen, black-background view with huge white text designed for the stage. The difference from a regular teleprompter: it listens to you perform using speech recognition and follows along automatically, showing just a single word or image cue for what is coming next. So you are not reading — you are performing from memory, with a tiny safety net that jogs you if you slip. You get the reassurance of a prompter without the dependency of reading from it.

Question 2

I get stage fright and forget my lines on stage — is there a tool to help?

Accepted Answer

Stage fright and blanking usually come from not having a safety net, which makes you tense, which makes you forget more. Performance Mode is that safety net. It tracks your performance in real time and shows one minimal cue for the next piece — enough to unstick you the instant you hesitate, not enough to read from. Because you know the cue is there if you need it, the panic drops, and you can actually perform. Afterwards it gives you warm, honest feedback on what you skipped, what you missed and any ad-libs worth keeping.

Question 3

How do I record or measure how an audience felt during my gig?

Accepted Answer

Measuring a room used to mean a vague gut feeling that faded by the time you got home. Performance Mode gives you real feedback after every set — how many pieces you performed, which you skipped, any punchlines or setups you missed, and intelligently flags new material you ad-libbed that worked. Pair it with the Gig Calendar post-gig review (rate the room, the organiser and each individual piece) and you have an actual record of how that audience felt — not a hazy memory.

Question 4

Is there a tool that follows along while I rehearse my set out loud?

Accepted Answer

Yes — that is the core of Performance Mode. It uses speech recognition to listen to you perform, follows your place in the routine, and advances the cues as you go. So you can rehearse exactly as you will perform — out loud, on your feet — and the tool tracks you, rather than you clicking through notes. It works best in Chrome; if your browser does not support speech recognition you are told up front and can still rehearse with the other Memory Lab modes.

Question 5

How do I know which jokes I skipped or ad-libbed during a set?

Accepted Answer

It is almost impossible to remember accurately in the moment. Performance Mode tracks it for you — after the set it tells you exactly which pieces you performed, which you skipped, any punchlines or setups you missed, and flags new material you added on the fly that was worth keeping, all framed positively. So the bits you ad-libbed do not vanish, and you can see plainly where you drifted from the plan.
