# Does anyone rehearse the recovery, not just the set?

I can run the set cleanly at home, but that’s obviously not the same as remembering where I am after a laugh lasts longer than expected or I blank for two seconds. I’m wondering if I should deliberately interrupt myself in rehearsal and practise finding the next beat again. Has anyone got a way of rehearsing the joins between bits rather than just memorising the whole thing in one perfect sequence?

Yes. I practise starting again from the middle, not just running from line one. Pick a few anchor points in the set and make sure you can jump straight to each one. A perfect uninterrupted rehearsal is reassuring, but it doesn't really test recovery.
